Course Overview

The HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This unit applies to a wide range of workers and community members who may be required to respond to a cardiac or breathing emergency.

Participants will learn how to recognise the signs of cardiac arrest, respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, and provide life-saving CPR until professional medical assistance arrives. The course also covers safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and relevant legal and workplace considerations.

On successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Recognise and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies
Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants
Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively
Apply legal, ethical, and workplace requirements related to CPR

Entry Requirements

To ensure the quality training outcomes, all candidates need to demonstrate sufficient academic capability to complete a unit of competency. These requirements are as following:

Students must be aged 18 or older
Ability to read, write and understand English (an LLN test will be conducted prior to comencing the course)
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Credit Transfer:

Pal Education has a recognition of prior learning (RPL) process in place for students who wish to have their prior skills, knowledge, experience and education formally recognised. All students enrolling in the course are entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) or credit transfer.

RPL allows the student to be recognised for their skills and knowledge gained from previous study or work experience without repeating the training.

Credit Transfer provides the student with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. Students will be exempted from the relevant unit of competency who are awarded credit Transfer. Students must submit a verified Certificate or Statement of Attainment issues by RTO for formal recognition.
