Course Overview
The CPCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry course provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work safely on construction sites in Australia. It is commonly known as White Card training and is a mandatory requirement for anyone wishing to enter or work within the construction industry.
Participants will learn how to identify common workplace hazards, assess risks, and follow established safety procedures to prevent injury and accidents. The course covers the roles and responsibilities of workers and employers under Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, ensuring students understand their legal obligations and how to contribute to a safe working environment.
Key areas of learning include:

Understanding WHS laws, duties and site safety requirements

Identifying construction hazards such as working at heights, moving plant, electrical risks and hazardous substances

Risk control measures and safe work practices

Correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Safety signage, symbols and emergency procedures

Reporting hazards, incidents and unsafe conditions
Upon successful completion, participants will recieve a White Card, which is recognised nationwide and allows them to work on construction sites across Australia.

Entry Requirements
To ensure the quality training outcomes, all candidates need to demonstrate sufficient academic capability to complete a unit of competency. These requirements are as following:

Students must be aged 18 or older

Ability to read, write and understand English (an LLN test will be conducted prior to comencing the course)

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Credit Transfer:
Pal Education has a recognition of prior learning (RPL) process in place for students who wish to have their prior skills, knowledge, experience and education formally recognised. All students enrolling in the course are entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) or credit transfer.
RPL allows the student to be recognised for their skills and knowledge gained from previous study or work experience without repeating the training.
Credit Transfer provides the student with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. Students will be exempted from the relevant unit of competency who are awarded credit Transfer. Students must submit a verified Certificate or Statement of Attainment issues by RTO for formal recognition.
